In our Orlando office, we often help entrepreneurs and the owners of new companies. Because we work with small business owners, we are familiar with the challenges they face, from finding favorable financing to locating qualified workers to securing appropriate workspace.
That is why we thought it might be helpful to pass along some bits of advice we read recently. They are very general suggestions, but to us, it seemed like they do a good job of presenting information that is good for entrepreneurs to keep in mind.
First, we think it's good for entrepreneurs to remember that a great many people they meet are going to say "no." They are going to disapprove of your business plan, tell you your business model will not work and not take you seriously. We know it's hard, but if you have done your homework and preparation, then you should try hard to keep confidence in yourself. Think about this -- do you think anybody ever thought Walt Disney could turn cartoon characters into an entertainment empire?
Second, the importance of innovation cannot be overstated. Small businesses are the ones that are not afraid to say, "Let's find a different way to do this." Sometimes, it is hard for other people to accept that there can be a new and better way to do something, but you should not let that discourage you.
Finally, we want you to know that help is available to you if you need it. By their very nature, entrepreneurs have to do so many things on their own. We certainly hope you do not feel as though you must always be on your own, though.
